Welcoming the Christmas Holiday 2009

My little troopers patiently waited for Santa to arrive via the local fire truck at a little village by our house. There were many kids and parents in attendance. Filled with hot cocoa, holiday lights and Christmas music.

Johnny enjoyed peaking in the windows looking at the Christmas displays. He specifically enjoyed Santa's chair and the trains chugging by.

Shane had the best seat in the house.

Santa arrived and everyone cheered.

This was one happy little boy when he saw Santa. Oh my!!

Johnny has been asking how much longer til Santa comes since around Halloween ;)

The next day Johnny participated in the Newton Parade and road the float with his preschool.

He was very thankful to have is buddy Brian ride along with them. I love this shot of them telling stories.

Their mission was to throw the candy to all the kids, wave and say Merry Christmas.

Johnny really took it all in and enjoyed it. Momma walked along side as did the other Momma's too. Only being pegged by a few pieces of hard candy...ouch.

The countdown almost begins. I can't wait to start decorating for the holidays. The music is already blaring through our house :)

And while looking for quotes for this blog entry I stumbled upon this one below and I just had to laugh:

The best baby-sitters, of course, are the baby's grandparents. You feel completely comfortable entrusting your baby to them for long periods, which is why most grandparents flee to Florida. ~Dave Barry

Getting Crafty

Get ready... I have a few new things up my sleeve. As I was searching around online the other day reading some blogs that I frequent I came across some really fun holiday craft ideas to do with the kids over the next few weeks. Here is one idea that we tried out this evening. I thought it was very cute and my little turkeys seemed to enjoy it.

"Gobble Gobble"

We are thankful for the times we spend as a family singing silly songs and laughing.

More of my craft ideas in the near future.

22 Months Oh My

My blue eyed boy, the boy who with a flash of the dimples can make me smile and forget about the shelving unit he just pulled down that created a huge HUGE mess in the living room.

My monster that can turn a simple meal into a facial. Mr. Man can say the sweetest little words with the cutest little accent. My boy Shane that can use his little eyebrows to say sooooo much. My guy who loves to snuggle mommy when he first wakes up-- even if it is 5:30 in the morning. My rocker who loves to dance and sing songs. My reader who can get lost for moments at a time in books.

My helper who loves to help mommy with the dishes and "wash hands". My explorer who loves to spend his days outside getting dirty. My motorcycle fanatic that love to climb right up on daddy's vroom vroom and pretend he's riding.

My monkey who loves to imitate any animal sounds. My love who gives mommy the sweetest sloppiest baby kisses (or a forehead if he doesn't feel like kissing). My monster who I often have to pull off of someone under attack-- including brother. My fearless little man that loves to jump from couch to couch and climb whatever looks fun at the time. My artist that loves to take stickers and put them all over his face.

I can't believe we are 2 short months away from turning 2. Lets press pause and stop time please. My little guy is growing way to fast!

John Rocking Out 11/13/09

This is my little Rocker this morning. He loves walking around jamming on his guitar and he just comes up with the funniest lyrics. Yesterday while at school (on lunch duty) his teacher tells me that while they were doing their morning songs, John raised his hand ever so politely and asked if they could listen to some Rock and Roll music. He's too much!

Remember

American soldiers sacrifice so much,

All for the freedom of our country.

Leaving their families and heading off to war,

Not knowing what the future holds.

Working day and night

Determined to stay strong.

Watching friends be killed every day

Letters from home inspiring them to keep fighting

So little is given to them

Although there is little to do,

For those who have died in war

We can still remember

Remember all the men who have died.

Remember all the battles fought

Remember all the tears families cried

Remember it was freedom the soldiers brought

To this very day soldiers are under-appreciated

Veterans Day is the day

For the dead, living, and fighting soldiers

To be remembered

by Brittany Vigoreaux

A special thanks to the Veterens in our life. xoxoxo

These Are The Days

My big guy John will be 4 in two short months and I am having a hard time coming to terms with that. Although if you ask him he will tell you he is going to be 5. That he altogether wants to skip 4 and be 5. There is no way this Momma will allow that!! Id rather move him back to 2 and freeze time, my baby boy is growing too fast. He is loving school, LOVING!! I love that he enjoys it so much. It's hard to remember a time that he wasn't so self sufficient and doing so much own his own for himself. He is my big helper and I am so grateful. He has sprouted up in recent weeks to the point that all the stuff that fit him a few short weeks ago, no longer fit, or look a little silly.

He loves to crack jokes and tell stories. He is also very fond of sending "messages" with mommy's phone to all his friends. He is a little to young for text messaging, but I guess he does what he see's and Mommy text's quite a bit through the day. He is such a sponge and remembers things in such great detail. He is still into telling Mommy where all the cars are from on the highway and roads by their license plates (thanks Ginka). He knows NJ, NY, PA...I love the way he says Pennsylvania, and FL. That's pretty much all we see in these parts. Occasionally we will see a new one and he will ask what it is, but he doesn't typically see it again to recite it again. I am amazed with his memory and his ability to remember directions. That boy knows where is he going and what he is going to pass along the way. He is so into batman these days, as well as his cars- that boy will always love cars. He is begging Santa for a skateboard this year...seriously??? he is only THREE!!!

Shane's will be 22 months next week. So close to two, and I just can't believe it. I feel like he has grown up so much in the last few months.. maybe even weeks. His vocabulary is taking off. He shocks Brian and I on a daily basis the new things and sentences he says, I can't believe he is speaking sentences. I think he is also too smart for his own good. Although his favorite and most often used word is still NO (and he uses it very well, and very stern...with the eyebrows and all). He will go on and on about a story and then at the very end say "right dada?" It is the cutest little "right dada?" that I ever heard. I think dada is quite fond of it as well. I think we finally are getting past the biting stage. I think the time outs and consequences worked. He will still "pretend" to bite but he doesn't clench down and leave a mark... so we are getting there. I was hoping it was a short lived phase, I was starting to feel bad for John's daily bites from his animal brother ;)

The other night while reading a bedtime story I finished Brown Bear Brown Bear and put it aside and Shane picked it up and started reciting it..word for word. Turning the pages and saying the animals names and sounds, just like we do when we read it. It amazing to watch him grow and watch his mind work. I think he gets bored too easy, and therefore acts out from time to time. He needs more challenges. He is one smart cookie that impresses both daddy and I. He is definitely more of a risk taker, climber, adventure... he loves anything tractors, trucks, motorcycles or anything his big brother has in his hand at any given moment (all will do what it takes to get it). But just when you think he can't be any more of a brut he'll snuggle in the small of your neck and give you baby kisses along with them muah sound... completely melts our hearts.

These are the days to remember boys and I cherish the time and the memories we share!
