My Big Man
John,
The summer is flying by and we are trying to soak up every ounce of fun in the sun that we can. You are such an amazing little boy. Each day you amaze me with your knowledge and a new skill.

I am super excited to share in your new venture as you start preschool in a few short weeks. You are very eager and so excited!

I pray you love it, use your manners, be creative, have fun and learn a lot!
Shane and I are going to miss you to pieces when your gone, but I can't wait to hear all about it each day when you return!
Love, Mom

Milk Makes Big Muscles
So Johnny just came up to me and this is how our conversation went...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Momma..look at my big muscles." **while pumping up his fists to show me his muscles**
"Wow, John, they are getting big"
"Yeah, its because I am drinking milk"
"That's great John, I wish you would drink milk more often. It helps you grow big and strong."
"Yeah I know Momma, if I keep drinking my milk I will be big like a poeweece officer, like Uncle Warren..and like Cassidy's daddy, he's a poeweece officer too....and Uncle Shad too..wow!"
"That's right bud!"
He is too stinking cute!!
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly and The Awesome!
So we had Shane's annual allergy testing on Thursday. It is not something I look forward to, but I do like to get some answers.
Up until now Shane has had allergies to Milk, Egg, Peanut, Wheat and Dog dander. We had discovered this last summer when given a RAST (blood) test to test for these allergens. We have avoided ALL of his allergens (and then some). It has been quite a challenge, but one that we have grown accustomed to.
We got some different results at our scratch test this past week. This is where they set up a grid on his back and scratch the different allergens onto his skin to see what kind of reaction he has.
The Good News- He has outgrown his milk allergy..YIPPY!!
The Bad News- His peanut was worse then I thought :( and his egg is still pretty bad! We just continue to pray that he will outgrow them.
The Ugly- seeing my poor baby react to his allergens:
(This was about 7 mins into the 15 min test- so they are not as big)
The egg was bad, but you can't tell in this picture. He kept trying to scratch it because it was itching really really really bad.
The Awesome...my little boy enjoying his first ice cream-
Something I wasn't quite sure I would ever see!!
enjoying is probably an understatement!
The Perfect Patient
Doggy Stones
So yesterday morning I woke up at 2am in EXTREME pain. I could not get comfortable and I could not fall back to sleep. I got up and tried moving around hoping the pain would subside, but no such luck. At 4am I headed to the hospital, knowing that I was probably experiencing kidney stones (for the second time).
So upon arriving at the ER, I get a CAT scan that proves that I do indeed have Kidney stones. They pump me full of IV fluids and give me pain medication (THANK GOD!). And I am feeling much more relief. Then I waited a little over 2 hours to get a regular x-ray of my kidney area which is protocol after detected in the CAT scan.
Now I am on percocet and waiting for them to pass. I feel so nausious and just not myself. I hope its not much longer!
Johnny knows that Mommy has kidney stones and I need to "pee" them out. And he keeps thinking I am saying "kitty stones" so last night he proceeded to tell me this long story about how he had to go to the Doctor because he has "doggy stones". This little boy has a huge imagination!
Days of Summer
The summer months seem to fly right by as we spend the majority of it outdoors among nature. The boys had a lot of fun visiting with Grandma and Tom who just left this past week and now are enjoying their visits with Pop Pop and Shari who are up for the month of August. I sure hope these boys realize how lucky they are to have so many loving grandparents!! They are spoiled rotten by each of them. There is just so much love surrounding these little guys, they are truly blessed!
Johnny is looking forward to school this fall. He is constantly talking about going and is so excited that his buddy Brady is in the same class. He is finally fully potty trained and not even wearing a pull up at night. I really didn't think it would happen but am so grateful that we have moved on to the next stage.
He continues to question everything as his curious little mind is learning. His favorite word is "Why?" and he says it over and over again with every explanation we give him.
But he is still my baby wrapped up in his blankies. Such a little love, my little snuggler.
Shane is teething, bad! At this stage he always has a finger in his mouth. He is pushing through some big top molars. No fun for either of us. But he still manages to be himself through all the pain.
He is such a ham and will sport those dimples at a drop of a hat. He knows when he is doing wrong and has become such a smart cookie recently. I am surprised by what this little boy knows and understands already. He also has followed in big brother's footsteps and is going on the potty 3-4 times a day. He is so proud of himself when he goes, and its just the cutest thing. I never thought I would be dealing with an 18month old who was potty training, apparently I thought I was going to get a break, since I just finished training John ;)
He loves chasing us through the house with his hands up like a monster saying "I gonna getch ohh." Its so cute and brings constant hysterics to both Brian and I. His vocabulary has blossomed and he repeats everything we say. He is very polite and says "peeas" and "ank ohh momma". Loves to say all the animal sounds. I really need to record this!
These boys bring me so much joy! I am truly enjoying all the time I get to spend with them!
NJ State Fair 2009
We made our annual trip to the fair on Tuesday with our friends Alexis and Hannah. The kids had a blast. It's always sweltering hot on the day we go, but we make the best of it enjoying cool frosty drinks! Johnny and I even headed back that night to enjoy the fair at night and his first Ferris wheel ride, which he enjoyed so much.
